When purpose comes to the rescue

“The tragedy of life does not lie in not reaching your goals… the tragedy of life lies in not having goals to reach for. It is not a disgrace not to reach the stars, but it is a disgrace not to have stars to reach out for. So aim high, dream big dreams and remember everything is possible if you can just believe”. – Anonymous
Purpose is defined by free dictionary.com as ‘the object toward which one strives or for which something exists; an aim or a goal’. Every individual created by God has a purpose for being. You came into this world for a reason. You are neither an accident nor a mistake because God doesn’t make mistakes; you are also not an experiment or a chance product of your parents. They may not have planned for you but you are here anyway and you are the most valuable of all of God’s creation.

Some people live and depart this life without making an impact, without knowing why they came and without fulfilling their purpose on earth. You can at least ask yourself: what if I die before I can live out my dream? What do you think about an unfulfilled life? Someone said an unfulfilled life is not worth living. Purpose gives fulfilment. You ought to be passionate about your purpose and employ patience to see it accomplished because everybody is blessed with time and talents.

There is no life more empty and meaningless than that without a direction. It would do you a lot of good if you found out why you were born in this time and age. God knows you are relevant to this generation; he has imbued you with the knowledge to impact your world positively and be a channel of blessing to people of your time.

You have only one life to live so do not live it pleasing others or riding on the coat tails of another. Find out the reason you came and fulfil it. Maybe you are living out a script written by your parents or relations, the best part in the play is you can break loose from every stronghold delaying your destiny and be what God fashioned you for. Do not be a cheap imitation of somebody else, be the original God created you to be. You can be guided on the right track but refuse to live another man’s dream. The hardest thing to be in life is what other people want you to be.

Perhaps you are thinking it is too late for you to start again (that is if you missed it in the past) but do not forget that the fulfilment you get from doing what you love surpasses any monetary reward you would get from doing what another person imposed on you. If you give up before you reach your goal, you are a quitter and it is an established fact no quitter ever fulfils their purpose.

The only guarantee to not being defeated in your pursuit is persistence in that which you plan to do. Learning to be you is key because everyone is unique with a God-given plan and purpose and for there to be an attainment, they have to be themselves and allow God to develop them into unique vessels of honour. Without him no life will have a purpose. He restores that which was lost and nobody achieves much without his divine help. If you are at sea concerning your mission on earth, ask God to direct and reveal it to you because for you to achieve it, you must know what it entails.

Many people do not discover their purpose early because they dabble into activities where they lack competence but there’s always a way out in matters of this nature. You should not attempt to give up. As you begin to redirect your focus, great improvement will show up. Pastor Tunde Bakare said, ‘the day you discover your purpose is the day you begin to live’. How true!

So many are of the opinion that purpose should be easy to identify, it doesn’t happen that way always. Mostly it happens gradually when you give yourself to identifying where your interests, talents and life seem to be leading you. Find something to live for; a person may be alive but is actually ‘dead’ if he has nothing to contribute to his world. He lacks insight, foresight, enthusiasm and power to create anything or help in any way possible.

Age should not be a barrier in attaining your life’s ambition because you are neither too old not too young to fulfil your destiny. Whatever God wants you to be, he will give you the grace to accomplish it. Anybody can dream big dreams and bring them to pass. How old is ‘old’ anyway? We have been told that age is just a number. If it is so, opportunity abounds for whoever wants to reach the sky.

At age 66, Colonel Harland David Sanders founded fast food chicken restaurant chain Kentucky Fried Chicken. Isn’t it amazing? He considered not his age. At a time when his mates were on the road to retirement, he was just starting something new. He knew he had something great to offer his world. He may have conferred with some of his friends who probably tried to discourage him from pursuing his dream but he held on to his belief and became happier for it. Today, even Nigeria has become a vibrant market for the world-class brand. He sure made a difference in his generation.

Everybody wants to be important and relevant in the scheme of things. That is why a lot of people are looking for importance in very many things in the society. Armed robbers, arsonists, kidnappers, terrorists, even rapists want to be recognised; they seek relevance in the wrong things. Inside every one of us is a craving to be somebody. You should be committed to your vision because God’s opinion of you matters most.

The success of a product is the fulfilment of the purpose for which it was made. Sadly, many people are on a joyride to nowhere. A life without a vision is like a rocking chair, moving without any progress, no distance covered therefore no work done.

Thought is supreme. Preserve a right mental attitude always and your success is assured. You are successful in life when you become what you want to be. You cannot change your actions unless you change your thoughts. It would not be out of place to make some careful re-adjustments of your priorities, schedule, association and any other thing that could delay your progress in order to accommodate new thoughts and dreams.

Jealousy and envy are the twin results of unfulfilled purpose. Not knowing your purpose will bring stress, fatigue, disillusionment and conflict in your life but your life becomes easy when you discover where you are going and what you are supposed to do per time.

Do not be carried away with the world’s symbol of success. When you discover your purpose you will not lack. No good manufacturer produces a product with a warrant for failure so why would God create you without a purpose. He is committed to your success and is willing to help you beyond your imagination.
A man’s life consists not of the things he possesses. With God leading you, you will prevail over every circumstance warring against your success.

‘It is true that you will create a healthier, happier, more fulfilling life when you discover your ultimate purpose in life’.
