Woman hands over girl to rapist, collects money

These are indeed dangerous times. The craze for money and other material gains has reached an alarming rate. A 25 year old woman Nnenna Okoro has lured a 14 year old girl, Faith (not real name) to a hotel where she was brutally raped by a man.
Okoro and Faith live in Sumoratu Estate, off Ojo Road, Lagos State. Apart from being neighbours, Okoro was also Faith's confidant.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Okoro had on May 16 approached Faith when her aunt with whom she lived was not around and requested she accompanied her to the Barracks to buy Mangoes.

The heart of man is desperately wicked. Because Okoro already had a plan to 'deal' with the girl, she rejected the mangoes available in the area and went instead to a nearby street where the hotel was located.

She lured the girl into a room in the hotel, shut the door and she was raped.

What a wicked way to treat a vulnerable, unsuspecting girl who trusted an unreliable and shameless adult? Young people should be wary of adults who have not their interest at heart but only pretend to care about them.

It is really a shame that such evil thrive in our midst without a corresponding punishment for offenders. Rape has gradually assumed a life of its own in our society. The panacea to rape is capital punishment so as to act as a deterrent to other intending rapists otherwise, we will continue to record such incidents in our nation.

PUNCH Metro learnt that Okoro had been arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court on two counts bordering on the crime, while the police said they had launched a manhunt for the suspect.
