Unbelievable, isn't it? Is there anything impossible for a determined person? At 100 years of age, a Chinese great grandmother, Zhao Shinjin from Hangzhou in eastern China decided it was time for her to be counted among the learned. She did what people in her age bracket would not contemplate - learning to read and write. What's she going to do with it? How many days does she have left on earth anyway? She must have planned it a long time ago and nothing, not even her age would hinder her.

Her 70 year old son, told CNN that his mother announced publicly to family members of her intention to learn how to read and write. The report states that apart from being able to write her name, she has also mastered about 100 Chinese characters after taking an intensive 10-day literacy program held by her neighbourhood committee, according to her son, Lou. She is so determined that she spends hours daily learning to read and write.

Bravo great grand ma. You're fulfilling purpose.
