Residents of Ejigbo-Ikotun area of Lagos will soon heave a sigh of relief following Governor Akinwunmi Ambode's promise to fix the Isolo-Ejigbo-Ikotun road. Ambode paid an unscheduled visit to the road on Tuesday and assured bewildered residents that work on the road will commence in the next one week. The road notorious for its perennial traffic caused by its terrible state has been a source of sorrow to tax-paying residents.
Describing the state of the road as unacceptable, the governor said, "I have come personally to see for myself the state of Ejigbo road and it
is very clear that this is totally unacceptable and there is no other
remedy than to let our officials come to site within the next one week
and the people of this neighbourhood should be guaranteed that work will
start on Ikotun-Ejigbo Isolo axis within the next seven days.”
He thereafter directed Mr. Paul Bamgboye-Martins, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works and the General Manager, Lagos State Public works corporation (LSPWC), Mr. Ayotunde Sodeinde to ensure work commences in the area within the next forty-eight hours. he also appealed to residents to cooperate with the workers when construction starts.
