London on lock-down as tube strike causes commuter chaos as drivers walk out over pay

London commuters had to endure long treks following a 24-hour strike on the Tube and a 48-hour strike on First Great Western services which began Wednesday night, with disruption threatening to run until the weekend. Daily mail reports that buses were crammed and roads gridlocked as the shutters were drawn at every station at 6.30pm. I just remembered the last fuel scarcity that hit Nigeria where everybody learnt how to walk as a matter of necessity. It was reported that almost 20,000 workers walked out over pay, conditions and rosters for a new all-night Tube service in industrial action, which has hit 4million commuters. The commuters are in for a hard time as there will be no London Underground services Thursday with possible disruption that might run until the weekend. More pictures after the cut.
